I hope everyone had a good Christmas season and a happy new year. I'm sorry it's been so long since I posted an update on Mom. Between Thanksgiving, all the Christmas preparations with decorating two houses (Mom's and mine), sending out Mom's Christmas cards (I don't even send out Christmas cards but now I'm doing Mom's!), finishing making all my 50 ornaments that I make every year, and out of town visitors, it's been a very busy time.
Mom came over to the house for Christmas and spent the day with all of us. All my girls and their respective spouses were there, as well as the two grandchildren, Jameson (2 ½ yr) and Harper (6 mo.) It was a full and busy day, but one she enjoyed very much.
Tommy came for a short visit just before Christmas and was glad to see Mom doing much better. She is much more alert and chipper, most days, although she does have some strange tales to tell of things she thinks she's done or seen. The latest story is that she just got back from a trip she took by herself to California. Once we talk through it she admits that maybe it was all a dream, but I'm not sure she's convinced!
Her niece, Kathy Larkin, came by for a visit last Friday and stayed in the extra bedroom. She liked the apartment so well that she's threatening to come back and spend more time here painting due to all the good light from the picture windows and sliding door.
Lately Mom's been working on walking. We got her a lift chair which helps tremendously with her being able to get up on her feet. She hopes to get her strength back so she can get around easier.
She really enjoyed getting all the cards and letters over Christmas and she had calls from people she hasn't heard from since she left Westlake 2 ½ years ago. What a treat for her. Thank you all.
Here's to a happy and healthy 2019 to all.
